KESTREL POCKET WEATHER TRACKERS TO SPONSOR UNITED STATES LONG RANGE RIFLE TEAMS
Kestrel To Be A Premier Sponsor of Prestigious Spirit of America Matches
Niantic, CT—September 8, 2008 – The United States Long Range Rifle Teams today announced that Kestrel Pocket Weather Trackers, designed and manufactured by Nielsen-Kellerman Co, has committed to be a premier sponsor of the Teams for the Spirit of America Match.
The Spirit of America Match, hosted by the Bald Eagles Rifle Club at Raton, NM, features one of long range shooting’s most prestigious international matches, the America Trophy Match. This September, the Match will be held for the first time since 2005. The national teams from Great Britain and Australia will compete against the U.S. National Team shooting at distances from 300 to 1,000 yards.
The U.S. Long Range Rifle Teams comprise the National Team (who include former members of the Palma® team), the Veterans’ team, and the USA Young Eagles Under 21 / Under 25 team.
“The effects of wind and weather play a huge role in our sport. Not only does the wind affect the flight of the bullet, but differences in altitude, pressure, and temperature can also change the bullet's impact,” said Dennis Flaharty, Team Captain of the National / Palma® Team. “Tools like the Kestrel Pocket Weather Tracker can often mean the difference between being a winning team, or being at the weather's mercy.”
Nielsen-Kellerman has been researching, designing, manufacturing and distributing Kestrel Pocket Weather Meters for 10 years, and has developed four patented measurement technologies for the Kestrel family of products.
“The Kestrel 4500 gives shooters the critical information needed for maximum accuracy; air-density, temperature, wind speed, direction and cross-wind calculation. When you know your conditions, there’s no guessing- just confidence in your shot,” said Monica Devlin, Nielsen-Kellerman’s Marketing and PR Assistant, of the handheld weather instruments.
